Iranian President Mahmoud Amhadinejad was quoted on state-run television Thursday as saying he would not be intimidated by the prospect of United Nations Security Council talks next week on sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
“Those who threaten Iran by sanctions and embargo should know that this nation lived under the hardest situation in the past 27 years and achieved nuclear technology. This nation will not be frightened by the threats,” he said.
Iran has continued to refuse to end its uranium enrichment program despite numerous efforts by the international community to convince it to do so, ignoring an August 31 deadline after which the U.N. Security Council said it would impose sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
