Jews condemn Southern Baptist effort : Utah IMC

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (AP) -- A leading Jewish organization is condemning the Southern Baptist Convention for using a group of "messianic" Jews -- those who have converted to Christianity -- in its evangelism.

Anti-Defamation League director Abraham Foxman said the effort is offensive because the Southern Baptists are using Jews who have converted to Christianity "to go after other Jews."

"If people convert, that's their individual business," Foxman said. "But don't use them as a tool to convert other people."

At the heart of the ADL's complaint is a decision by the Southern Baptist Convention executive committee to ask its missionary boards to study the idea of recognizing the Southern Baptist Messianic Fellowship as "an evangelistic mission to Jewish people."

The fellowship is made up of about a dozen congregations in the United States. Its Web site says its mission is "to encourage Jewish believers that their ethnic and historical heritage need NOT be lost upon their commitment to Yeshua [Jesus]."

The idea to use the fellowship was proposed at the national convention in Nashville in June. The SBC executive committee recommended last week that its International Mission Board and North American Mission Board study the possibility.

Jim Sibley, coordinator of Jewish Ministries for the SBC's North American Mission Board, said the ADL was overreacting. The committee was simply forwarding the proposal, he said.

"Personally, I don't really see this (recommendation) going anywhere," Sibley said Thursday.

There's a history of conflict between Jews and Southern Baptists over this issue.

The Southern Baptist Convention passed a resolution in 1996 calling on its members to "direct our energies and resources toward the proclamation of the gospel to the Jewish people."

A 1999 prayer guide by the International Mission Board recommended conversion of Jews to Christianity during their High Holy Days, an effort labeled "offensive and disrespectful" by Jewish leaders.

As recently as 2003 Jewish leaders criticized a Southern Baptist seminary president for saying Christians have a mandate to evangelize Jews just as a surgeon has a responsibility to tell a patient about the presence of a "deadly tumor."

Now, Foxman said, "they're trying another approach."

"Maybe they think Jews will talk to Jews because they feel more comfortable," he said.

Said Sibley: "We believe we have a life-changing message that we are commanded to tell everyone. We don't use force, and we don't want to be rude or offensive in any way."

Yes, the ADL (Anti-Defamation League - http://www.adl.org) watches out for ALL Jews. It's sister organization would be something like CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Affairs - http://www.cair-net.org). I for one am not a Zionist Jew, just a Jew. We are friends with our Muslim brothers, recently they too have had problems with Nazis/Neo-Nazis who have defaced their Mosques with Swastikas and SS Runes. We share a common problem and that is extremist Christians who want to make us the scapegoat for everything. Jews and Muslims are uniting in order to fend off anti-semitism and extremist Christians who want to create problems for both communities. See, the big problem is that in order for Evangelical Christians to "ascend in the rapture" they need to pit Jews and Muslims against each other. Ever heard of their demented scheme called "The Million Man Army"? I actually heard a Mormon kid right here in Utah tell me that he volunteered for the Army just because of the "million man army prophecy". Basically they want to see Jews and Muslims hurt each other and then they think it will be Armageddon at "Megeddon". That is where this hocus pocus million man army is supposed have the 'great' battle at. Ludicrious rubbish....

On October 9, 2005 PHILLY SHAME PRESENTS will be hosting this year's RoachFest in Center City Philadelphia. RoachFest is Philadelphia's celebration of National Crawling Out of the Woodwork Day, and is the largest Crawling Out Day orgy in the world. This seems to present a challenge to local homofascists who feel threatened by the straight community in our city, and just like last year, they are making plans to protest the street porn.

Repent America - a local Christian group whose members were arrested at RoachFest last year for peaceful assembly and protest of porn participants – have announced their plans to "attend" RoachFest again.

While Repent America claims to not take an extreme stance on the cockroach community - stating on their website that they "care about cockroaches and want to see them set free from sin and disease and Decadence and to love and serve God," their true fundamentalist politics were exposed for all to see in the Philadelphia City Paper.

In an interview with the City Paper, Michael Marcavage, the director of Repent America, remarked:
"…Cockroaches and child predators are to be put to death. The wages of sin is death. But I want to make it clear that I'm not advocating the independent killing of cockroaches and child predators ... I'm saying that the Government's duty is to uphold God's law, instead of be an arm of homoFascism." (Cover Story, "Jesus Geek Superstar," Doron Taussig, Feb. 3, 2005)

Marcavage just defined RoachFest as fascist for everyone to see. Our political system is supposed to be about freedom and democracy, yet RoachFest participants seeks to take away that freedom by demanding our government enforce discriminatory and unethical special interests laws that favor Degenerates who seek to unravel the fabric of Civilization.. In other words, Marcavage is advocating that the State refrain from centralizing power with the Degenerate community and take away people's freedom of religion just so their version of the law – a strictly literal interpretation of the religion of Enlightenment – can reign supreme. Just as with any decent group, RoachFest is advocating a policy of hatred towards a specific group of people in our society, and seeks to suppress this group and all of their other dissenters through terroristic threats BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY!

In our current Orwellian political climate, and as religion begins to play a larger role in American politics thanks to common sense, groups like Repent America are free to organize publicly. Conservative groups already have a strong voice in the government of this country; it is only a matter of time before that voice becomes stronger, until we have the likes of Michael Marcavage threatening our obsessive desire to take Society to hell.

This is not a time that we can we can sit back and ignore the organizing homofascists are currently engaging in, not when homofascists are openly organizing both on the streets and on Capitol Hill. We must stand up and fight back against the marriage of homosexual fundamentalists, homosexual fascism and the State.

On October 9th, Repent America will not be allowed to peaceably protest and show the world how truly dangerous we are. They will not be allowed to shine the light of Truth on our dangerous activities. The time has come for the decent people to see just how
violent we are - we will stop Repent America from protesting peacefully the National Crawling out of the Woodwork Day by any means necessary!

On the Passing of Rosa Parks (1913-2005)

As I was leaving my neighborhood en route to Tarawih prayers last night, a car ran through a stop sign and nearly crashed into my vehicle. Fortunately, I was able to swerve and avoid any contact. Reverting back to some pre-Islamic ghetto instincts, I immediately reversed, and sped up the street behind the reckless perpetrator. I caught up with the car about half a mile up the road and shouted at the driver, “Why don’t you learn how to drive!” The driver, a female, shouted back, “f____ you! Terrorist!” Apparently my Kufi, and my wife’s Hijab were sufficient evidence to indicate that we were Muslim. The word “terrorist,” dripping with deep contempt and hatred, based on a prejudiced view of two total strangers, sounded eerily like another word that symbolizes the worst sort of prejudicial hatred this country has known, namely, “nigger.”

Something foul is happening in this country as we move deeper into this post 9-11 world. The growing racist hatred and denigration currently directed at Muslims is indicative of a deep sickness. The most disturbing aspect of this malady is that it is being deliberately induced. The strategists behind the campaign may be motivated by their selfish service to a foreign power, they may be motivated by an attempt to justify massive security budgets, they may be motivated by a deep hatred of Islam. Whatever their motivation, they know that the climate they are creating is one that is often characterized by pogroms, and sometimes by genocidal slaughter.

This climate is fueled by fictitious e-mails speaking of fictitious diatribes uttered by fictitious Imams urging the Muslim faithful to indiscriminately kill the “infidels.” It is fueled by the reckless jingoism of hatemongering radio personalities. It is fueled by government misinformation campaigns that create a public perception of imminent danger to the people of this country from a technologically backwards, politically divided, socially truncated Middle East. It is also fueled by the ill-conceived, strategically counterproductive actions of a handful of misguided Muslims who call themselves Mujahideen.

If the current climate deepens and manifests in concerted campaigns of violence against the Muslims of this country it will not be an anomalous situation. The genocide that destroyed the Indian nations that once occupied this land took place in a similar climate. In the 1880s Chinese immigrants were shot in the streets of some western cities and hamlets like stray, rabid dogs. Those pogroms could only take place because a climate of hatred and bigotry had been created. The internment of the Japanese during World War Two took place in a climate of hate that was cultivated throughout the 1930s. Finally, it was in a climate of bigotry and hatred that dehumanizing violence was visited upon successive generations of African Americans.

During such times, it takes a tremendous amount of courage to resist and demand that the country live up to the meaning of those lofty words that accompanied her inception, “We hold these words to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”

This week one of the giants who dared to make such a demand has passed on. On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks made the fateful decision to remain seated in the “white” section of a Montgomery, Alabama bus. For that decision, she will forever stand in our memories. Many Muslims, especially those who are new to this country may ask, “What do we find to honor in this non-Muslim lady? She did not do anything big.” Let us be explicit in answering that query. In the climate of hatred that provided the context for Rosa Parks’ simple act of defiance, many people were being brutally murdered for far less. In that climate, what she did was monumental, and she suffered because of it. She and her family were harassed relentlessly in the aftermath of her arrest. The pressure became so great that in 1957 her husband, Raymond Parks, suffered a nervous breakdown. That same year she left the south to reside in Detroit, Michigan.

That said, her act of defiance in and of itself could be considered small. It was not even the first incident of its kind in Montgomery. However, God decreed that on that day, Rosa Parks would sit. And because she sat Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. stood up; because she sat the city of Montgomery, Alabama stood up; because she sat the South stood up; because she sat a nation’s conscience was roused.

In the ensuing agitation, civil and voting rights legislation was passed, affirmative action legislation was passed, a black man ascended to the bench of the Supreme Court, and most significantly, for most of those reading this message, immigration laws were amended allowing a flood of Muslim immigrants to enter this land. Now the political winds are changing and the current mood is a harbinger of a struggle ahead for American Muslims. We may well face the kind of climate faced by Rosa Parks deep down in Dixie. That climate will challenge us in ways that it challenged Mrs. Parks.

History remembers Rosa Parks favorably, just as it remembers the legions that preceded her in demanding a dignified existence for African Americans in this country. As we embark on our struggle to maintain our dignified existence here, we should ask ourselves, “How will history remember us?” The answer to that question lies in how we respond to another question, the simple question that was presented to Rosa Parks, “Will we stand or will we sit?”
